Porsche Technology

One of the things that always annoyed me privately was someone who had unlimited amount of money, walking in off the street and ordering a Porsche car from us. These types of customers had no understanding of what they were purchasing in terms of the design and engineering that was incorporated in their motorcar. Some of these were: -

  • The overall safety of all Porsche models was inherent.
  • All models were designed to be recycled as much as possible.
  • Porsche 928S had the longest toothed drive belt ever produced in the world at that time.
  • The Porsche 928 had rear suspension that steered (corrected camber and toe-in angles) as the car cornered.
  • Porsche were the first company to introduce a long life anti-corrosion body shell warranty
  • The Porsche 928 all aluminium engine was 50kgs lighter than Mercedes equivalent.
  • The Porsche 928 front and rear bumpers were made of polyurethane and therefore deformable, which absorbed parking knocks and provided improved safety to pedestrians. Porsche had to develop a special paint to withstand this flexibility.
  • The Porsche 944 had the largest four-cylinder production engine when it came out.
  • All Porsche models came with a worldwide extended long life body warranty and mechanical warranty
  • Porsche always strived to build low emission and economical cars
  • Porsche was not just about building fast cars, they built them to handle and stop as well.
  • Porsche was always leading and introducing new technologies that were subsequently adopted by other manufacturers a lot of which came from the race and rally programmes.
