The management of Porsche Cars Great Britain had decided to race two new Porsche 911 2.7 Carrera Lightweight cars in the British Production Sports Cars Championship, driven by Nick Faure and a selection of guest drivers.
During my time at AFN, I was very keen to get involved in this racing myself and volunteered to go to as many races as possible as a supporting mechanic.
In the Production Sport Cars Championship there was very little you could do to the car from standard other than adding the required safety equipment. This included; four point seats belts, fire extinguisher and race tyres. No modifications were allowed to the engine, transmission or suspension, other than what you could do to a standard road car.
Also both RGO2L and RGO 3L were driven to and from each race meeting on the public roads as they were perfectly street legal being standard road cars, which also promoted them to the public.
