After I had left Hawker Siddley in late 1970, I was looking around for a job. My ideal would have been to join Ginger and work in Porsche motor sport, but that was not to be.
On one particular Porsche Club meeting at the Coach & Horses, Kew Green, I was talking to Mike Maltin (Chris Maltin’s father). Mike had just flown in from some exotic place in his BOAC VC-10 airliner and had come along to the club meeting straight from Heathrow in his flying uniform. During the course of the evening he mentioned that his son Christopher was setting up a specialist Porsche repair business working on his own out at a farm at Hawthorn Hill near Maidenhead in Berkshire.
